customer Reg. Question

Postby Phil Spinelli » Mon Feb 21, 2005 10:30 am

We were thinking about giving a coupon to new customers who register.

But how would you sort customers (new and old)

Create a new group (i.e. 'New Customers') and make it the default group
which means new customers who register will automatically be assigned to
this group. Create your coupon and assign it to this group, then people
who are in this group will automcatically get the coupon added to their
cart when they order. You will have to manually move the customer from
this group to a different one once you have received an order from them
with the coupon applied.

Customers in this group will automatically get coupon?

Or will they have to enter coupon code.

I tried this myself and still had to enter code to get discount. Am I doing
something wrong?

Customers in this group should automatically have the coupon added to
their cart when they sign in. Try signing out and then signing back in.
You may currently be signed in under the old group you were in.

That worked. Thanks.

Now that I have coupon assigned to a group of customers, can a non-member get the
discount by entering in the code when ordering?

Yes, as long as you give them the code. If you want a coupon resticted
to a group just don't give the code to anyone.
