December 31, 2012 email from USPS regarding USPS API changes January 27, 2013

Product: Manager and Pro
Version: ShopSite 11 sp2 r4 and earlier
Platform: ALL

I received an email notification from USPS that on January 27, 2013, they would be making changes to their Web Services APIs. Does this affect my ShopSite? Is there anything that I need to do?

Our developers have reviewed the changes detailed by USPS and determined that the USPS real-time rates functionality in ShopSite will not be affected by these changes. The current version of ShopSite has also been tested by our developers against the USPS testing environment that has already had these changes implemented and no issues were encountered.

Please note that the name of the USPS "Parcel Post" shipping method will continue to display as "Parcel Post" in ShopSite 11 sp2 r4 and earlier, but in versions newer than 11 sp2 r4 the name of this option will be updated to reflect the new "Standard Post" terminology.

A portion of the email sent by USPS is as follows:

Web Tools customer;

On January 27, 2013, the Postal Service will update domestic pricing and mailing standards and international prices and product features. For detailed information on prices, mailing standards and new product features, please reference the Federal Register Notices and Pricing Files viewable at

Price Change updates will be available in the Web Tools testing environment for integrator access on or around January 14, 2013. The test environment can be accessed, using your production UserID, via the following URL scheme, host and path:

-          Secure APIs:

-          Non-secure APIs:

Below is a summary of changes to each affected API. Please note that the changes below are intended to be backwards compatible, however, may not be depending on how individual programs and applications are integrated with the APIs. If you rely upon a third party developer (e.g. software or ecommerce/cart provider) for USPS products and services on your website or in your application, please direct any questions to them.
