Is there a way to get Cross-sell feature work with custom product templates?

Product: ShopSite SC and TX
Version: 4.x, 5.x, 6.0.x
OS: All

I want to use custom product templates but I also want to use the Cross-sell feature of ShopSite, will these two work together?

As of ShopSite v6.0.x, an implementation of the Cross-sell feature in a custom product template is not possible. This feature will be added in a later version.
