Locating your storeid and version of ShopSite / VERSION file / upgrading specific directories (ss, sc, data)

Product: ShopSite SC and TX
Version: 5.0 and earlier
Platform: ALL

How can I tell what my storeid is and what version of ShopSite my store is running? Is it possible to run an upgrade on specific directories?

Details about your store's ID and version are posted at the bottom of the /start.cgi screen (sometimes called the "back office"). Click on the green ShopSite logo in the upper left corner of your ShopSite. This will take you to the start.cgi screen. The , or "StoreID," is included in the labeling at the bottom center of this screen. It will include the type of store (Lite, Manager, Pro, etc.), the version number, and the StoreID.
If customization is minimal, you can often locate the type and version of ShopSite at the top of the HTML code in your store's home page. It may also be viewed in the shopping cart (order.cgi) screen in ShopSite SC. Select the view page source option in your browser to locate.

VERSION files are located in the ss, sc and data directories and subdirectories of upgraded UNIX stores. When viewed, the release number is displayed. These files do not exist in NT/Windows2000 stores.
The wwwinstall.cgi will look for these files during upgrades. If the VERSION file exists in a directory and is the same version as the wwwinstall.cgi, that directory will be skipped in the upgrade.

If certain directories require upgrading, removing the VERSION file and running the upgrade a second time will target just those specific directories (provided the VERSION files exists in the other directories and match that of the wwwinstall.cgi).

(Note: If the ShopSite CGIs are being shared among multiple stores, ALL stores have to be upgraded to the new version at the same time. For example, you can't upgrade some stores to v4.3 while keeping others at v4.2 with shared CGIs.)

Always remember to backup your ShopSite files before upgrading. See additional details at http://www.shopsite.com/help/upgrading.html .
