"Points" System

I am working on a website for a client and he is adamant that we set his store up with some sort of "points system". It seems that ShopSite does not support this type of feature - so I am wondering if anyone has any experience with a third-party setup that we could use to meet this demand? I believe the client is using First Data for payments - maybe they offer some sort of setup for this?

I guess the larger question is this: when a client places an order the points will be figured based on the cost, not the shipping or tax - but how in the world would one track these? Could it be done at the ShopSite level, or does it have to happen at First Data?

Sorry I hope that makes some sense - I'm kind of scrambling here.

Maybe I should rephrase this - "rewards" cards? Are there companies that service businesses by supplying brand-able rewards cards?
