Still Get Duplicate Orders

Postby Larry Bohen » Thu Mar 03, 2005 5:23 am

I believe I saw a reply to a post recently saying that ShopSite Pro now has
a popup warning whenever a customer clicks more than once on the [Submit
Order] button.

We still occasionally get duplicate orders. One last evening. Both orders
have the same time stamp.

I assume an automatic email order confirmation is sent for each order.
Correct?

Other than customer ignoring the warning about a duplicate order, is there
any other reason why a duplicate order would get through?

There is no popup warning, only javascript to disable the button after
the first time it is clicked. If the shopper has javascript disabled
they could still submit twice since there would be no way to trap that
they had already submitted. By default javascript is enabled on
browsers so if it is disable they have done it on purpose. You might
want to put a warning under the button to alert the shopper that they
should only press the submit button once.
