California Consumer Privacy Act

Postby Metolius Climbing » Fri Jan 24, 2020 2:58 pm

So now ALL websites need to inform visitors that they are being tracked by cookies according the the California Consumer Privacy Act with a pop-up window on the first page they visit prompting them to agree to the terms and policies needed to use our website, and possibly the option to opt-out. So far I have seen some third part solutions but wonder what other Shopsite users were doing to comply. I know Shopsite needs cookies to work and I use Google Analytics to track site performance, so I will need some solution asap.

Thanks,
Jason

You could probably add your own pop-up/banner code to the header or footer field, but ShopSite 14 added the 'Cookie & Privacy Policy' feature (located under Preferences) that includes a cookie consent banner option. See:

http://www.shopsite.com/help/14.0/en-US/new-features.html

Cookie & Privacy Policy (Pro, Manager, Starter)
Merchants can craft a Cookie and Privacy Policy (for GDPR purposes, etc) and display a banner to shoppers with a consent button.
