Problem with Word Press Integration

Postby hammer » Tue Sep 16, 2014 9:00 am

Hello

Trying to set up wordpress integration for my self hosted blog. I downloaded SS plugin 1.2 (could not find 1.3) and installed it, activated it, and copied the code and the call back URLffrom shopsite to word press and saved it. The SS icon appears in the tool bar. The search opens, and I can select a product and insert the code. A code that is generated and appears in the correct place on the blog page. But no product or order button etc. is displayed in the blog in either preview mode or after it is published. The code that is generated appears to be missing something. Here it is as generated:

[product id=6b52c41f-a692-49e0-b6ed-9e3e71c62bf4 sku=40040011]Lobster Trap Cooked Claw & Knuckle Lobster Meat (2 lbs)[/product]

Also note that when in SS plug in set up, when I test the connection I get an error message saying it does not like the call back URL. Here is the URL as created by shopsite (- are mine)

https://secure.-.com/cart/ss_page.cgi?storeid=*12bdffbafea2006681404c

The error message in the plug in set up says to check the callback URL

I am running wordpress 3.3
Theme twentyeleven 1.3

Shopsite v11 sp2 r3
Windows Server 2003

A link to the page where the problem exists would be helpful.

HI Jim,

Here is the page where I am trying to integrate the SS WordPress plugin generated code.

http://www.lobsters-online.com/lobsterfly/index.php/springtime-opening-season-for-the-waterfront-lobster-roll/

I am thinking the first thing to resolve is why during SS Plugin set up am getting during the test the

Check Callback URL error.

Thanks,

Is the wordpress site on the same server as your ShopSite store? It could be that the wordpress plugin can't communicate securely with the ShopSite store on the same server it is hosted. It may be using an internal, local IP not the full ip that access from external devices use.

Yes, the wordpress blog is on the same physical server as shopsite. If I changed the backcall URL to an IP address might that help?

You could try it and see if that works.

Hi Jim,

I can't change the back URL in the shopsite config dialog.

So I changed it in WordPress SS plugin. I changed the secure.domain.com to the https ip address, and ran the test and it did not resolve. So then I changed it to the non secure ip address, and ran the test, and it resolved. But when while editing the post, I ran the plug in, inserted the code, and published the post. But no product information appeared in the live post.

I imagine is going to want a secure url on both ends before it will work. Any other suggestions?

Well I found a work around. In Shopsite > Merchandising > Social > WordPress the back URL configuration uses the secure socket https.

Within the WordPress Shopsite Plug in Settings, when I employed the https back url it would not resolve when tested. So finally I edited the plug in to use the http socket and domain, and the test resolved. I then saved the configuration.

I went to a edit a post, used the shopsite plug in in the tool bar to add a product to the blog post, save it, and when I check the published blog post, the selected product appeared.

I do not know why a back url with http worked while a back url with https did not.

Probably wouldn't be a problem if you had your own SSL domain or if the blog and ShopSite were on separate servers, but some shared SSL URLs can't be contacted directly from the server that they are on due to how the host does the internal DNS or routing for that shared SSL domain.

Hi Loren

You are right. It had to do with SSL. The ssl domain we tried to use had its own dedicated IP, url and certificate ... but for some reason it would not resolve from WordPress. I could have probably have done some more research and found a fix, and maybe I will a little later on. But for now it is working.
