VAT probably won't work well for you because VAT is charged based on Country. Certain zip code ranges can be excluded from VAT, but I don't know how hard it would be to enter all non-Connecticut zip code patterns.

Besides the integration with AvaTax, ShopSite Pro 10 sp1 includes a new Tax API that can be used by a custom programmer to make custom tax calculations based on the product info passed to it from the cart (the Extra Product Fields are among the data passed to the custom program, so you could use one of these fields to indicate your custom tax rate for each product) and then the custom program returns the total tax amount to the cart.

Documentation for this new ShopSite Pro api can be found here:
http://www.shopsite.com/help/10.1/en-US/sc/pro/sales.tax.api.html
and:
http://www.shopsite.com/help/10.1/en-US/sc/pro/sales.tax.api.spec.html

The coupon seems to work for me. However when I add 2 products that are 32.95 each for a total with shipping of 74.98 I still get the $10.00 coupon applied for a total of 64.98 for the order.

So are you sure you have the coupon configured correctly?
Also note that the Variable Price option for products was added to Manager stores in the new ShopSite 10 sp1, so if you have Manager and not Pro and if your store is hosted on a Linux server (ShopSite 10 sp1 will be available on other server platforms soon, but currently only for Linux servers) then you could ask your ShopSite reseller about upgrading your store.

Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2009 9:08 pm (GMT -7)

I just found an error while trying to enter an order for customer. It appears that the total amount of the cart is not being factored when applying a coupon. I enter a product with a unit value of $80.95 with a Qty is 3 so the total recalc'ed Cart Value is $242.85.

The coupon is valid for $10 on an Entire Cart Value of $100 or more. The coupon is not expired. Every time I enter the coupon I get "Coupon Not Applied".

If I empty the cart and then add a single product with a unit value greater than $100 the coupon will apply. Here's the coupon code - ev4982 try it on any products at AhoyCaptain.com. I've tried other coupons and they don't appear to working either. HELP!!!!!!
If you don't like the fonts that display on the order and packing slip screen just add styles to the configuration section of the orders screen for both the order and packing slip.

Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome (all of which are free and IMO work better than IE 7 or 8 ) are other options you could try for browsers.
Note that this will only work if you are the only one using that particular install of ShopSite. If you are in a mall situation then all stores use the same image files and changing it for one would change it for all. If you don't know if your store is sharing cgis and images contact your host.
Subject: upgrade v10(sp1) back office font face
Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:52 pm (GMT -7)

I just upgraded from to the newest ShopSite. But to my dismay, the back office font faces have been changed or defined to something similar to courier-like, including on the Order Packing List. I think it is really UGLY, personally I prefer Arial. I use the Packing List format in packages to customers, and am unwilling to use what is now provided. Also, the numbers on Orders are left-aligned, as opposed to right-aligned, when viewing with IE7. I still prefer IE7 over IE8, but I am told the newest version is not compatible with IE7.

There is no option to change the font face. So I had to revert to previous ShopSite version, despite liking some of the new features. The back office look is that problematic.

I hope you will consider fixing this to how it was before when it comes to font face, or giving the option. I would then like to upgrade!

Easy - log into your site using an FTP program and look for this file:
../store/shopsite-images/en-US/msg/warning-yellow.gif

Rename it to something like warning-yellow.old and upload the new warning image you'd like to use. Make sure you name the better looking image the same as the old one - warning-yellow.gif.

With the old file out and the new file in, your cart error page should look a little less 80's. Good luck. =)

Did you get this working yet?

This part should be in your page template just before the [-- Loop Products --] tag

Code:

<table border="4" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="1" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" width="71%" id="AutoNumber1">

and then after the [-- End_Loop Products --]
you would put this

Code:

</table>

Note that the tags like [-- PRODUCT.SKUSize Begin --] and [-- PRODUCT.SKUStyle Begin --] aren't really needed in your custom template if you include styles for the elements. These just make it so it uses the font size from the product layout settings screen. Most people would prefer to use styles.

You could place the order using the COD method or you could temporarily put your store in the Manual payment processing mode and place the order. Then re-enable your normal payment gateway. The order will be processed by ShopSite but won't be sent to your payment gateway. Since you have already billed it you won't need to do that again.

To limit the time that your store is using the manual method, put the product(s) in the cart and go to the billing screen. Then enable the manual payment setting, finalize the order and re-enable the normal gateway. That way you should only take a few seconds and chances of someone placing another order during that time will be remote.

We received an order from a customer, who then called and asked us to modify it by adding a $5 item. I was able to charge the card through the payment gateway admin, but now Shopsite will show $5 less for the month than the payment gateway and the reports from the fulfillment vendor.

In hindsight I realize I should have placed the order through Shopsite, ... but I didn't.

Is there a way I can manually add a $5 order without sending it through the gateway and charging the card again?
This shouldn't happen if you're set up correctly. Make sure there are no gaps in your weight ranges....
_________________
~~Barefoot Chris

I'm using "Shipping by Weight" and it works just fine if the customer orders just one of a product. However, if two of an item is ordered the shipping charges go to zero in the shopping cart. Is there a simple way around this?
I was just wondering if I us the "Order anywhere" feature on an existing website.
Can I still configure the products in the back office to submit them to google product feed.

Do I have to produce my own site map as well?
Well, first off, don't get too frustrated as I'm sure there are others that struggle in modifying the templates. (I know I do. Its not my forte. )

What might help is to determine if you want to list products that are either

1. Subproducts in a tabular form, with a button that directly adds the item to the cart.

OR

2. Products in a tabular form, with a button that directly links to a products more information page.

At least this is how we ended up looking at it. Then search the forum for some previous postings concerning this.
You would need to have a ShopSite Pro level store and then you could use the Variable Price product. This would allow people to enter what ever amount they would like.

You could also use a product with order options for various amounts that they would like to give. This could be done in Pro and Manager level stores using the Order Option Pricing.
This would be an ideal use for a variable price item. Check the Shopsite documentation for how to set it up.
_________________
~~Barefoot Chris

We're a nonprofit and want to accept donations. If someone knows how to do this, let me know, but it doesn't look like it's possible?

We want a donation button where the person enters the amount they want to donate, and it sends us the dollars, of course, as well as their name and contact info so that we can send them a "thank you" and a donation receipt.
_________________
Plant more trees
The AvaTax estimator says that for our annual volume, we'd have to pay a $1400 setup fee $350 a MONTH for this service!

All I need is a way to set the tax rate for each item I add to the store. Is it really that complicated? We don't have many items.

I'm going to look into using the VAT tax system...maybe I can kluge something to do what I need it to do.

Does ShopSite have different button template/choices to choose from for download? We are in need of a different set of buttons that matches the template of our site better. Thanks.
