PayPal upgrading root certificate and switching to SHA-256 algorithm in 2015/2016
Product: ALL
Version: ALL
Platform: ALL
I have heard or been notified that over the course of 2015 and 2016 PayPal will be working towards upgrading various SSL certificates and switching to the SHA-256 encryption algorithm and that action may be required to make sure my application still works with these changes. Do these PayPal changes affect my ShopSite? Is there anything that I need to do?
We do not anticipate any ShopSite issues with these changes, however ShopSite is testing the latest ShopSite 12 sp1 version against PayPal’s test 'sandbox' servers as they implement these changes there. The list of PayPal methods/gateways in ShopSite 12 sp1 that have been verified against the PayPal sandbox servers are:
PayPal Express Checkout
PayPal Advanced
PayPal Link
PayPal Payflow Pro version 4 (tested working with sandbox in ShopSite 10 through 12 sp1)
As of August 2016, ShopSite 11 sp2 has been successfully tested against the PayPal sandbox servers for the following PayPal methods:
PayPal Standard
PayPal Express Checkout
PayPal Payflow Pro version 4
This list will be updated as PayPal makes the changes to additional sandbox services and we can verify that service in ShopSite against the sandbox. PayPal's current schedule of changes to their various sandbox and live services can be found in their kbase article on this issue here:
