Can the default ShopSite perl templates and theme templates be modified?

If I know Perl can I edit and/or customize the templates and theme templates that come with ShopSite rather than write a custom template using the ShopSite Custom Template feature?

No, you should not, as this is unsupported and your templates may not work in the future. If you do make modifications, then your changes will be wiped out on an upgrade, and future versions of ShopSite may no longer support your modifications.

Note: ShopSite v6 no longer uses Perl templates at all, they are now hardcoded into the ShopSite binaries.
