How do I locate a specific directory in my ShopSite setup?

I found a solution that suggests editing a file in a certain directory to resolve my issue. How do I locate the proper directory in my ShopSite setup?

For a 5.0 store, an example directory structure is outlined here:

These are just examples. The directories may have any names as determined by the server administrator during the ShopSite installation. Note that in earlier versions the Shopsite, or ss, directory was frequently called the back office (bo) directory. The Shopping Cart, or sc, directory was often called the shopping basket (sb) directory.

Details on the directories and corresponding URLs configured for any particular store may be found in the .aa file, located in the ss directory. For example, a store with an ID of "shop" would have a "shop.aa" file. Many of the tokens in this file may also be examined or configured through browser interface under the settings.cgi screen (Preferences > Hosting Service).
