Two new Authorize.net security features (Referrer URL and Password Required)
Product: ShopSite SC
Version: ALL
OS: ALL
ShopSite merchants using the Authorize.net gateway for real-time credit card processing have recently (May 2002) received notification from Authorize.net of two new security features, one regarding setting a Referrer URL and the other regarding the Password Required mode.
Can I or should I use these features with ShopSite? What does it all mean?
Solution ID: S05446
1) The 'Referrer URL' feature is only to be used by shopping carts using the WebLink or ADC Delayed Response methods. ShopSite uses the ADC DIRECT RESPONSE method, and therefore does not require a Referrer URL to be set. In fact, if a ShopSite merchant sets a Referrer URL, they will most likely cause a problem with the integration between their ShopSite shopping cart and their Authorize.net account. The Detailed Error Message would read something to the effect of: "Invalid referrer URL".
2) The 'require password on all transactions' feature will work ONLY with ShopSite v6 or greater. Previously Authorize.net had only required the password on the settlement transactions, not the authorization transactions, so ShopSite did not send it on the authorization transactions made from the shopping cart. If you have an older version of ShopSite and want to turn on this feature in your Authorize.net account, see your ShopSite reseller about upgrading to the latest version of ShopSite.
