Unable to process through to thankyou.cgi ; buyer mail receipt cart error using sendmail / wsendmail (testmail.cgi , diagnose.exe, nt_test.exe ).

Product: ShopSite
Version: 4x, 5x, 6.0 through 6.2
Platform: All

When a buyer places an order and finalizes it, ShopSite sends out an email receipt. The following may apply when the cart process doesn't complete and the buyer receives a browser or CGI download error that includes the message:

"There was an error sending your mail receipt."
Solution ID: S03721

There is a testmail.cgi on the ShopSite partner FTP site. This may be used to determine if the error is a problem with sendmail configuration rather than a ShopSite issue. If you are hosted with a ShopSite reseller/partner, please request that they download/apply this file for you. If you are not hosted with a ShopSite reseller, please contact the ShopSite sales department for information on downloading from the FTP site.

To use the testmail.cgi:
1) FTP to the ShopSite partner FTP site
2) Change directories to "perl".
3) Get the file "testmail.cgi" in ascii mode.
4) Place the file on your server and put it into the shopping cart directory.
5) Modify the perl path in the script as necessary and set permissions on the script to be executable.
6) Run the script and send an e-mail to the e-mail address having the problem.
7) If errors are received, consult the server sendmail documentation and configuration to correct.

There is a wSendmail check included with ShopSite Windows2000 / NT diagnostic tool. To use:
1) Log into the ShopSite merchant screen.
2) Run the diagnostic CGI by replacing the "start.cgi" at the end of the merchant access URL with "diagnose.exe" (a/k/a "nt_test.exe" in pre-4.3 versions of ShopSite).
3) Submit the store id name.
4) On the diagnostic screen, run the "Check wSendmail" test.
5) If errors are received, consult the wSendmail documentation and configuration to correct.
