Does ShopSite work over NFS mounts?

Product: ALL
Version: ALL
Platform: Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris

Will ShopSite work if the cgi's or data reside on a separate server but are being mounted using NFS to the executing server?

Solution ID: S05431

ShopSite will work over NFS mounts if the NFS daemon and other related services are configured correctly.

For example, NFS often requires (besides the actual nfsd itself) lockd and statd to be configured correctly and running on both the machines in order for processes running on the executing machines to place system locks on files that are NFS mounted on the other machine.

The best way to find out if your processes are configured correctly is to consult your sysadmin. If you are the sysadmin, read a good UNIX book on the subject, and read the man pages for nfsd, lockd, and statd.
