Upgrading a demo store to a production store

I created a ShopSite store using a demo copy of the software. I just purchased the software, and now I'd like to upgrade the software without losing any of the data that I created.
Solution ID: S02781

1. Make a full copy of the demo store's data directory.
Example:

$ cd /www
$ cp ?R data data.bak

2. Run wwwinstall.cgi again, this time with your new purchased store.auth file in the installation directory, and again choose 'New Install'. This will create a new, empty ShopSite store.

3. Copy all of your backed up data back into the data directory.

Example:

$ cd /www
$ cp ?R data.bak/* data/

4. Regenerate the store (Go to Main | Utilities | Regenerate).

NOTE: If you created an index.html file outside of ShopSite and ftp'd it to the output directory, you'll want to make a backup copy of that file before running the installation. New Install creates a new index.html file in the output directory, so it will overwrite your existing one. However, if you created your index.html page through ShopSite, there's no need to do this as your index.html page will be recreated in step 4 when you regenerate.

Also, you will have to reconfigure some settings.

Shopping Basket and Back Office Security, if you want them on. Located in Config | Technical Settings.

Path to a Custom CGI if you used one. Located in Config | Technical Settings.

If using a Pro store, what you want done during a Regenerate. Located in Utilities | Regenerate.

If you were using a real-time credit card processor, you will have to reset which you were using, but shouldn't need to reset the settings for that processor. Located in Config | Payment Types | Configure Payment Options.

Whether or not you want a customer comments box in the Shopping Basket. Located in Config | Order System

Whether or not you want an order instructions box on the Billing Screen. Located in Config | Order System.

If you have done all this, and the install was done correctly and all the files have the right permissions, you should have a store that looks just like your previous store. These are instructions to move any store from one location to another and changing URL and StoreID.
